Another amazing selection of recommendations! The Secret Museum of Mankind sounds like a fascinating find—what a unique and eye-opening glimpse into history. And the travel tips from Japan are pure gold. I’ll definitely be using the "Maximize your vacation days" tool for my next trip! Also, the quotes you shared really got me thinking—James Clear’s on imagining failure while preparing is one I’ll keep in mind. Looking forward to the next issue! 👏
Today is NOT the worst AI will be. We are just at the very beginning of how bad AI is going to be for society. Typical techo hubris — I expect better from you, KK.
With all due respect, this was not KK's comment, and I think you missed the message. AI's *capabilities* are improving every day. What havoc it wreaks on society is yet to be seen (though I agree the bad may well outweigh the good). There's no hubris behind the quote; it's merely an observation regarding how the technology itself will improve.
On the contrary, I of course saw the quote attribution. Propagating a quote is an endorsement of its content.
Speaking as someone who has just finished a 40 year career in software, including running an intense ML focused engineering team and helping to set ML strategy at my final company, I have found a broader perspective since my retirement three years ago.
I use AI to write birthday poems. I usually canvass friends and family for quirky stories about the recipient. Everyone loves a poem. Only twice has a recipient said I wish you had written it yourself. My reply: I was not an English major but a Business major. I like efficiency. I average two poems a week. You only get this frugal gift one. I did a birthday poem for myself thinking no one else would bother. As it was I got two.
The Secret history book is not downloadable. It’s only available as a web site.
I tried to download the book you referred to today but it wasn't able. Is there any other way to do this?
One other thing: I have shared your work with friends as I enjoy your publication. I hope you continue on.

If “always follow the rules” is your number one example, I’ll pass.

It *is* hubris.
