For cheap VoIP providers, I like Ooma even better. The up-front fees for the adapter are a little higher but after that it’s “free” which is to say you just pay the taxes and fees that are applied to any phone service - it depends on your location so you can check their site to see how much it will set you back. I think it’s $6.99/month where I live

Seeing the AI search engine alternative -- highly recommend listening to the NYT The Daily episode from Friday about Bing’s AI integration. I may profile and deep dive it this week.

I listened to it. It was kind of creepy and disturbing! The perplexity AI doesn't really talk back. It just seems to understand my follow-up questions.

D and C battery adapters that use AA batteries are available from eneloop by Panasonic. They're great for me because I only need 1 battery charger (AA/AAA), can always use/purchase AA size batteries. And, if in a pinch, any AA batteries can be used whether rechargeable or not.

> While I was at it, I also upgraded my Maglite flashlights to 10 times brighter LED bulbs. Brilliant!

Pun intended?
