At 78 and living on my own for the first time in my life I use the future self concept to motivate particularly in the evening as I tidy up before going off to bed.

On a cross country trip we listened to Shantaram. We had both read the book but the audio one was another level. Humphrey Bower did all the voices. Amazing. The backstory of the book, the life of Gregory David Roberts is one of a kind. When Oprah went to the Bombay slums Roberts met her there and showed her his old home, smaller than a casket. Both exposures- future self and Shantaram can be life changing.

The audiobook of George MacDonald Fraser’s WW II memoir, Quartered Safe Out Here, is fantastic for both the content and the different regional English accents done by the reader, David Case.
