I saw your recommendation for "Pirate Ship", and took a look at the company. My biggest concern with it is that I have no clue who/what/where I'm really doing business with. "Pirate Ship LLC" is a Wyoming LLC registered through a registered agent. The "Pirate Ship" website doesn't list an address, or phone number. The domain name is registered through an anonymizer service. As far as I can tell, ALL of the listed addresses in the WY corp filing trace back to the registered agent and are associated with multiple corporations.
The terms & conditions on the website include a binding arbitration clause and an attempt to reduce the statute of limitations to 1 year.
Really hard to compare....UPS has dozens of terms & conditions documents, and USPS is a creation of the Federal government and is largely governed by Federal law.
However, if you have a problem with UPS or USPS, it's not hard to find a physical location with somebody to complain to.
I have been using GoShippo.com for several years now, and while I can't say that their privacy policies are any better than Pirate Ship (or even whether they are different companies), I will say that in a side-by-side comparison just now on a hypothetical package, I found Shippo to be easier to use. Although the prices quoted on both sites were virtually the same (both significantly cheaper than the same label purchased through USPS.com), Pirate Ship didn't want to show me the cheapest option, and I had to click around to find it in their total list of options. YMMV
High probability they are different companies....Shippo is incorporated as "Popout, Inc" in Delaware. A few minutes browsing on their website revealed the names of their senior management, and an office address "731 Market Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94103".
A much more "real" looking company. Shippo passes my "smell test."
Thanks so much for featuring my post! Big fan. ❤️
Wow, I love the last recommendation on defining your visual style. Going to work on that for my personal site and newsletter. Great rec!

Do you feel lucky?
How do those terms compare to the terms for UPS and UPSP?

Thanks, that is helpful.
