I use my phone a ton for kitchen timing (or just ask the google wifi or siri to set a timer) as well as referencing recipes. One thing i have found as I move back and forth from chopping to washing things to managing the stovetop is my ability to start using my knuckles and sometimes the tip of my nose as a clutch when my hands are otherwise occupied or wet. Usually there is one knuckle that is still dry enough to tap on the screen with. Also, the phone case I have (quadlock, amazing on so many levels) has maglock and incorporates magnets strong enough to mount my phone on a metal surface facing me. I love gadgets but try to use my phone in as many creative ways as possible before having to augment.

I use my Apple Watch almost exclusively as a kitchen timer. The thing I like about it the most is that above and beyond using Siri to set timers, I can have more than one timer going at the same time. The best use here is for multi-stage cooking or baking. Say you’re making roasted potatoes and you wast to cook them for 50 minutes, turning halfway. Just set a timer for 50 minutes and then set a t8mer for 25 minutes and voila!

Kitchen timer? Just use Amazon echo. We just use verbal commands. You can ask it how long is left on the timer. And you can have multiple timers going at once.

Yeah, I use a Google Home the same way. Set and manage multiple timers with voice commands, you can name the timers ("hey Google, set a 30 minute timer named chicken"), and you can see them on the screen at a glance.

It's also handy for metric/imperial conversion ("what's 350 F in C?"), maths when multiplying/dividing recipes ("what's three times one and three quarters?") etc.
