Ironic that you're singing the praises of the Bolt the same week that Chevy announced the end of Bolt production. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/chevy-bolt-end-production-gm-vehicle/ apparently pickup trucks sell better?!

Well, "the majority" is certainly not all, and all I can tell you is when we went to test drive a used Bolt at the Volvo dealership in Tucson, the salesman, who was anxious to sell us the car, called the Chevy dealer while we were sitting in the office. He was specifically told that the Bolt they had available had not been serviced for the recall and that Chevy was having a hard time coming up with a fix. the Volvo guy agreed that under the circumstances it wasn't the wisest purchase, and believe me, he really wanted to sell us the car.

My advice to anyone considering a used Bolt would be the same that they gave us on our first day in journalism school, "If your grandmother says she loves you, check it out."

Mark that THE HUMAN BODY is one of my favorites, too! I think the cartoonist Kevin Huizenga turned me onto it. I’d love to know what other vintage science books like that you dig.

Be careful with used Bolts. There is a recall out on the battery which can catch fire while charging. We were told they hadn't been able to totally fix it yet. We went with a used BMW i3. It doesn't get nearly the mileage on a charge, but for tootling around the city it's perfect. It's a second car, and we only charge it once a week. After 2018, they added carplay (or if handy, you can do it yourself via Bimmertech). We also opted for solely electric. They have a model that carried a small amount of gas for emergency.
