The $10 online processing fee for the lifetime military/veteran National Park pass is waived if you get the pass in person at a park office that sells these passes.
I hate packing for my travels so I invented sort of a version of "the pile method" to make it easier- instead of thinking of what all I'll need for what day and then packing one by one, I just go around the house and pile everything that I think I might need and then pick the top priorities and eliminate non-essentials / if the space is full.

Yes! We were recently in Death Valley and did this very thing with my Veterans ID. What a surprise and what a treat.
